Fri 12th Jan 2018 Networking for Community English / ESOL Group Leaders and Volunteers, from REAP
If you would like a ‘core pack’ of Community English materials, we will be asking for a small contribution (no more than £5) to cover the cost of photocopying or £2 for the Spring Term ‘supplement’. As this workshop is unfunded, to save resources, we will only copy enough packs for the people who book places so it is Essential to Book. If you can make your own photocopies for volunteers etc. we will only ask you to pay for the set you take away with you. (Volunteers in REAP-run groups get a free pack but you MUST BOOK.)
– ideas, materials, contacts and sharing.
Sharing ideas & experience from volunteer-led ‘Grass Roots’ and Community English Groups to help each other support and engage refugees and migrants in our communities and help people gain confidence to speak and practice basic, practical English.
A discussion and practical workshop for established and brand new community volunteers, staff and trainers in West London: to meet and share ideas: try out new materials for your own course; where ‘leaders’ and volunteers from several very different groups will describe ideas and experiences, projects, models and approaches active ‘on the ground’ in West London over the past 2-3 years.
Next session :
- Meeting, encouraging, and introducing possible new volunteers to your group
- Core ‘pack’ and new materials suggested for Term 3
- Links between community groups and other courses, including formal ESOL
- Ideas and setting up a way to exchange ideas and help
- What is already out there?
