The West London Refugee Children and Young People Network
is a network of and for activists, agencies and voluntary and statutory professionals who work with refugee children across West London. People from other areas are also welcome. The initiative grews from 2 workshops in 2009 where a consensus formed amongst participants that they could be more effective if they networked their knowledge and activities to increase interaction communication.
For 4 years the network had quarterly events and strong communication channels (monthly E-news, searchable web directory/resource bank, E-Networking etc.) but it has been difficult to resource it in recent years and the young refugee support sector has changed radically in that time. Through its activities members were able to interact widely and effectively, spread awareness of their services, share knowledge, experience and contacts, speed up referral, gain advice and input from fellow specialists quickly and easily. It was felt to be of such value that groups, individuals and organisations involved still try to maintain some level of networking through joint events, self-financed workshops, mapping exercises supported by some larger organisations and connections with broad refugee support networking across West London. Towards the end of 2016 and into 2017 this webpage will also be built up as a resource with help from volunteers.
If you would like to join this network or contribute in some practical way (eg. news and information, support in kind such as free meeting rooms, or financial support) please contact sarah@reap.org.uk
